If you don’t know me, you probably wouldn’t know that I have adult kids and they are great to eat with now. I also have a very excitable 2 year old that is fun. Unfortunately I love good food and eating good food with a toddler is less than fun sometimes. I can see it on the faces of the restaurants that I walk in with my toddler as to how much they enjoy or despise having to deal with kids. I’m not going to talk about the ones that don’t make it an enjoyable event. I will however shout to the rooftops those places that have celebrated Jaxon being there with us and made it something special. Let me preface this by saying that just because a restaurant is happy to see your kids, doesn’t mean you can let them go buck wild and cause a huge disturbance for the other guests, that’s rude.
Let’s start off by talking about one of Jaxon’s favorite places, Spark Burger. It’s fun, the atmosphere is bright and inviting. They have colors and color sheets and the food is delicious. The corn dog and french fries are Jaxon’s favorite. I have to sneak a bit of that corndog too because it’s better than anything you would get at the state fair. The french fries are crinkle cut the way God intended them to be. The burgers are fantastic also, the BLC is my love language. The side patio at the 63rd location is our normal stop which has a great lawn with cornhole and patio tables. Great for nice evenings.
The surprise to my list is Louie’s on the lake. The Hal Smith group has built a great staff and some very respectable food options. The yard is fun with lots of area to run around between bites of food and if you have toddlers, you know how nice that is. You can watch the sunset, eat a delicious and healthy rice bowl, the bayou bowl is killer. Great kids menu and staff that make you feel welcomed, especially your kids.
My kid, even though he is 2, is in love with “ball”. Pretty much any sport on TV and Bush League is fantastic for that. Really great atmosphere, great food, and lot’s of TVs with nothing but sports to keep your kids and you happy. Also, anyone with a French fry flight is alright in my books. The plus side is that if your little one gets restless, you can take a stroll around Northpark mall with the older people. They love seeing youngins walking with them.

The final spot could be my favorite on the list, not just because the food was on another level of good, but because Jaxon was not just tolerated, he was celebrated at Le Parisien. The staff does what it takes to make sure your child is having a great time and meal. Co-owner Alain Jeu is the most delightful restauranteur I have met. He made sure to come by and meet Jaxon and make him feel special. If you are wondering what to get, all of it. Share the french toast as no human should have that many calories in one sitting, but the flavor is something out of legend.
I am sure there are a few others out there, and I would love to hear your thoughts.
